Catherine Campbell, dont le père était un militaire
américain affecté à la base de Couvron, près de Laon dans l'Aisne, a passé une partie
de son enfance à Versigny jusqu'à sa dixième année.
Elle pense aujourd'hui que cette période vécue en France a développé son sens du beau
et de l'art, grâce aux visites en famille de nombreux sites naturels et
historiques.
Elle précise avoir été en particulier touchée par les portraits qui ornaient les
châteaux français et anglais.
Peut-être est-ce la raison de sa préférence pour la peinture académique et de son
style réaliste.
Catherine Campbell vit aujourd'hui à Harrisburg, en Pennsylvanie, où elle est professeur d'Art et où elle peint. Elle pratique aussi avec bonheur les collages et la tapisserie.

Catherine Campbell lived in Versigny, near Laon,
in France, when she was ten years old. She thinks today that this time in France helped
develop her appreciation of beauty and fine art.
Her family visited many natural and historic sites, and she was particularly taken with
the portraiture she saw in french and english castles.
Perhaps that is why today she prefers to paint in the academic, realistic style.
She also works in collage, tapestry, and mixed media. And she is an Art teacher in
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
